Perf and PCB Effects Layouts Schaller Fuzz

Schaller fuzz from late 1960's or early 1970's. Made in germany and sounds like a F###n beast :) Seen some life but everything works and it sounds so amazing ! Some previous owner has lost the original metal bottom plate and made a new one and added velcro on it. Doesn't have any kind of affect of the use but I lowered the price anyway because.

Has anyone seen any type of schematic for the Schaller wah/sustain or wah/fuzz? I have one that is DOA, and going through it there are a few issues, but having any type of schematic would.

#1 The Fuzz Face. One of the first and most iconic fuzz circuits around. It is debatable whether there are more iterations of this classic circuit or the Big Muff Pi out there, so I'll let you be the judge. For any breadboarder or pedal creator out there, the Fuzz Face is almost a rite of passage in your build journey.

Schaller Fuzz vintage germanium guitar fuzz pedal clone by Circle Electric Co.. It is a two-transistor fuzz circuit with a lot of buzz and honk, and a fair amount of sputter in the decay, the perfect pedal for those 60s zipper-like fuzz tones. It has a very tactile and dynamically touch-sensitive level of playability and clean up.

a Friend gave me an old Schaller Fuzz because i wanted to test it and look for the Circuit. Its a real fine sounding Fuzz that sounds similar to the RogerMayer ClassicFuzz, but using BC239B Si Trannys I made some pictures from it and traced the circuit (first time for me doing such work) And drawed a schematic..

This circuit topology is at the heart of a variety of classic fuzz circuits, from the Fuzz Face to the Vox Tonebender to the germanium Schaller Fuzz. The earliest examples of this circuit used germanium transistors, but later implementations used silicon transistors.

made in Germany 1972. Schaller Fuzz (-Sustain) Pedal, 1972. Nice fuzz pedal from the early '70s. Very gritty and fuzzy sound, yet remaining articulate and compact. Distortion cleans up nicely with the pedal, works as a volume pedal in off-mode. This effect contains BC413C and BC293C transistors. Schaller Fuzz (-Sustain) Pedal owner's manual.

Thanks for all the info, Schoppo. I just breadboarded the circuit and tried the handful of AC151s I have. I got nice velcro fuzz. I tried biasing the circuit by increasing the resistance of Q2's collector. I went up to 5.6k but when I tried your method of adding a resistor in parallel to the pot/cap I liked the sound better!
